It's always great to discover a little bit of History.

Fray Bentos is the name of the Town in Uruguay where the factory was located. Corned beef was sold in tins which were ideally suited for Army rations. They weighed just one pound ad were easily transportable.

The brand name of Fray Bentos became synonymous with Corned Beef and it's popularity was such that the term 'Fray Bentos'  was used by soldiers to mean 'Good'.
